In mineral processing, the grinding mill is where energy and wear costs are won or lost. Magnesia-based refractory - particularly fused magnesia (FM) and dead burned magnesia (DBM) - protects mill linings and grinding media from abrasion and chemical attack. Choosing the right grade directly affects mill efficiency and total operating cost.
Where Magnesia Fits in the Mill
Mill liners and certain grinding media operate in harsh conditions: impact, abrasion and often corrosive slurries. Magnesia refractories resist both mechanical wear and chemical attack from acidic or basic pulps, extending liner life and reducing unplanned downtime for relining.
Fused Magnesia for Severe Service
Fused magnesia develops large, dense crystals with very high purity and refractoriness, making it the premium choice where wear and temperature are extreme. HOLY supplies FM powder at MgO 95-99% and FM granular for refractory and ceramic applications.
